You’ve built a life that crosses borders. We help you manage the pressures behind it.

Private Therapy is designed for expats whose work and personal lives extend across countries and cultures. Many clients operate at a high level and want therapy that is defined, discreet, and aligned with the realities of an international life.

This often includes:

  • Entrepreneurs building companies abroad
  • Professionals in finance and consulting
  • Individuals navigating relocation
  • People adjusting to cultural transition

We understand you. Because we are you.

Clinical expertise informed by real-world global experience.

Private Therapy was founded by Leonard Citron and Benet Hennessey, experienced psychotherapists whose careers span both clinical practice and international business.

Before becoming therapists, Leonard worked in finance and Benet led an international art company operating between New York and London. Their firsthand experience navigating ambitious careers, relocation, cultural transitions, and life across borders informs the work they do with clients today.

Both clinicians trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based modalities, bringing together rigorous clinical education with a practical understanding of the pressures many globally mobile professionals face.

Leonard Citron is an Adjunct Professor at New York University and specializes in CBT, REBT, anxiety, depression, and identity development.

Benet Hennessey trained at Columbia University and specializes in CBT, REBT, ACT, multicultural counseling, and relationship dynamics. He is also the former host of the mental health podcast Beautifully Anxious.

Together, at Private Therapy, they integrate structured, evidence-based treatment approaches with real-world insight into high-pressure careers, relocation, cultural transitions, and international life.

Geography changes. Being human doesn’t.

Discrete. Effective. Goal oriented therapy.

Success often comes with hidden pressure. Careers expand. Opportunities move. Addresses change. But your mind doesn’t always adjust at the same speed as the passport. We help you stay grounded within it.
  • Visa uncertainty
  • Cultural dislocation
  • Navigation fatigue
  • Performance pressure
  • Isolation in global cities
  • Feeling disconnected
Some clients seek support for depression, anxiety, anger, OCD, perfectionism, or LGBTQ+ issues. What connects them is not a single role, but the demands of living and working across borders. Our approach allows therapy to begin without lengthy explanation. Your world is already understood.
